2 Thessalonians

a plain token of the righteous judgment of God, for you⁺ to be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you⁺ suffer.

For indeed [it is] righteous with God to repay those oppressing you⁺ with tribulation,

and to you⁺ being oppressed, relief with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of His power

in a fire of flame, giving vengeance on those not knowing God and on those not obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus,

who will pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

when He shall come to be glorified in His saints and to be marveled at among all those having believed—because our testimony to you⁺ was believed—in that day.

For [this] also we pray always for you⁺, that our God may count you⁺ worthy of the calling and may fulfill every good pleasure of goodness and work of faith in power,

for you⁺ not quickly to be shaken in mind, nor to be alarmed, neither through spirit nor through word, nor through letter as through us, as that the day of the Lord is present.

Let no one deceive you⁺ in [any] way, because [it is] not unless the apostasy shall have come first, and the man of lawlessness shall have been revealed—the son of destruction,

the one opposing and exalting himself above every so-called god or object of worship—so as for him to sit down in the temple of God, setting forth that he himself is God.

Do you⁺ not remember that, being still with you⁺, I was saying these things to you⁺?

And now you⁺ know what is restraining for him to be revealed in his own time.

For the mystery of lawlessness is working already, only the one at present is restraining [it] until he might be out of the midst.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and will annul by the appearing of His coming,

whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in every power and in signs and in wonders of falsehood,

and in every deception of wickedness to those perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be saved.

And because of this, God sends to them a working of delusion for them to believe the lie,

so that all those not having believed the truth but having been well pleased in unrighteousness should be judged.

But we ought to give thanks to God always concerning you⁺, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you⁺ from the beginning unto salvation in the sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth,

to which also He called you⁺ through our gospel to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, the One having loved us and having given [us] eternal comfort and good hope in grace,

may He comfort your⁺ hearts, and may He strengthen [you] in every good work and word.

Finally, brothers, pray for us that the word of the Lord may run and may be glorified, just as also with you⁺,

and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil men; for the faith [is] not unto all.

But faithful is the Lord, who will strengthen you⁺ and guard [you] from the evil one.

And we are persuaded in the Lord as to you⁺, that both you⁺ are doing and you⁺ will do what we command.

And may the Lord direct your⁺ hearts into the love of God and into the perseverance of Christ.

Now we command you⁺, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw yourselves from every brother walking in an unruly manner and not according to the tradition that you received from us.

For even when we were with you⁺, we were commanding you⁺ this, that “if anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat.”

For we hear some are walking among you⁺ in an unruly manner, not working at all, but being busybodies.

Now to such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that, working with quietness, they should eat their own bread.

And if anyone does not obey our word through the letter, take note of this one not to mix with him, so that he may be ashamed.

And do not deem [him] as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother.
